Bill Barnes

I'm starting to really dive into the Pulp novel illustrations now that it's May. I've got a lot of the cover done (as seen here) I've still got a long way to go. I'm really not that good at painting (or should I say digital painting) but I'm having fun! Thanks to Matt for helpin' w/ the logo!

Death of a Hero

I never knew Scott Crossfield, most people most likely haven't even heard the name, but he was one of the courageous test pilots from Historical Edwards Airforce base. When I was a kid I wanted to be a pilot / astronaut so bad, and he along w/ Chuck Yeager, Neil Armstrong, and several others inspired me to dream about flying jets and shooting off to the stars. If ya wanna learn more about Mr. Crossfield and his accomplishments here's a link... check it out.

Stuff and Things pt 2! Now w/ 30% more Stuff!!!

I haven't updated in a while, super busy, kids/wife all sick, and tons of work. Anyway, what shall I talk about today... how awesome it is that 24 (the tv series on Fox) subtly pokes at how corrupt Bush is? Or that Ol' GW is defending his defense secretary (Rumsfeld) stating that he's doing a "fine job"... "I hear the voices, and I read the front page and I know the speculation, but I'm the decider, and I decide what's best. And what's best is for Don Rumsfeld to remain as the secretary of defense." Yeah, he's doin' a great job keepin' us in a mess of trouble. Can't imagine why gas prices are so high... could it have anything to do w/ what's going on w/ Iran?
Ok, on to movies, saw Breakfast on Pluto, good flick, go rent it! Also saw Return of the Living Dead : Necropolis... skip that one, horrible.
Comics : I've been reading Spider-Girl, can't get enough, I've never been a big Spidey fan, I enjoyed Larsen and McFarlane's runs but outside of that, I just didn't get into him, don't know why. But I'm loving Spider-Girl, so much fun, it's like discovering the Marvel Universe all over again!
And last night, Matt told me that spidey didn't get his powers from a Radioactive Spider anymore, he's the descendent of a spider clan or something (forgive me if my facts are totally messed up, I was in shock when I heard all this) and he's got claws that come out of his arms or something, and he shoots organic webs.... great... thanks... who ever wrote that should be shot in the face! That's crazy, "I can't think of anything new to have Spidey do, so I'll erase his entire history and create my own" WTF?!? How could Marvel even let someone do this to him? Are we going to find out next that Mutants aren't really born with the mutant gene, aliens hand pick them and manipulate their every move in some giant cosmic opera... IT'S CRAP I TELL YA!!!
Sorry, I get kinda worked up when it comes to stuff like that, I don't mind if someone expands on Spidey's origin, or tweaks it in a way that it's deeper, but to totally kill it seems ridiculous to me. Is Marvel so embarrassed by the crazy idea of a radioactive spider biting someone giving them powers that they have to nullify it w/ some spider heritage crap?
Deep breath... it'll be ok.... just keep reading Spider Girl...

Stuff and things...

Well, yesterday I went to a con in Nashua, THE COMIC SHOW! It was really cool, big thanks to Chris and Randy for takin' such good care of us! So I met Eric Powell, what a nice guy! Man, he must have done 60 sketches for everyone... for free (he even did a THING for my FF sketchbook)! Anyway, we did pretty good, got to see friends, hang out and talk comics w/ fans for 6 hours! We did a commission for our friend Shawn Fritschy... he loves Ka-Zar, so we did a recreation of X-men 10... just brought it into the 70s.

Not a lot to say, just workin' on the Raccoon Man stuff this week, we sent Erik Larsen our Johnny/Dragon pages, so we should know in a couple weeks if Image is going to publish it. Keep your fingers crossed out there!

The Goon..

Tomorrow I'll be at a comic show in Nashua NH. I'll be sittin' next to Eric Powell! So when my good friend Tommy heard this, he whipped up this kick ass drawing (then I colored it) ... Matt Printed it out and I'm going to give it to ol' Powelly tomorrow!

Manny not being Manny

Ok, for all you Sox fans out there, you know about Manny being Manny (which means, Manny hitting a shit load of home runs, missing fly balls that land in his lap, and barely jogging to first). Now the season's young, very young, hasn't left the hospital because of joundice young. But in the last couple games, I've seen Manny run to first (like hard, and he was out by a mile, but he still ran it out!) and he just (8th of April against Baltimore, 2nd and 3rd innings) he ran and caught the ball!!! Holy crap! I just can't believe it! Um... he hasn't had any home runs... I'll get back to you on this as things change...

Bizzaro Comment

Goodbye, me am not Bizzaro. Evil Rich tell me to leave his blog and don't leave comment on everything! So me not here.

Me am not © DC Comics, so nothing me say in this blog is 100% legal!

Lastly I'd like to not say is that I don't watch 24. It is the worst show ever (IMNHO) Last night me was crying because the car didn't pull up and everyone came out, then they wondered "Something is wrong" then Jack didn't come in behind them, me cry so softly, it make me not pee.

So today me started reading The DaVinci Code... in the first couple chapters they didn't mention the Vatican so many times, me felt I didn't need to start reading Angels and Demons before me not continue Da Vinci. So me didn't, then I read that there is not a naked guy dead... then me not think... "there was no naked guy dead in Da Vinci Code too!" so me didn't start to wonder if Dan have less than 2 tricks up his sleeve.... me have finished so when I do, me will not compare either book.

Me love George Bush, him must be smartest person in all of the world... and me feel very bad for DeLay, him looked like such an honest man...

Oh boy, Superman is not here! I won't talk to you later!
Hello!
